“Increasing Standards Effects on Memphis and Shelby County Schools”

In Memphis and Shelby County Schools many parents an even teachers have been concerned about there child's future, and the increasing curriculum that has changed in the schools almost every year. These two school systems have been under construction since the beinning of time due to the head authority thats been in charge, the diversity, and even community problems. However, this causes many students to worry about should they attend school or not, which has caused numerous of drop-outs, and also, low graduation rates. These Increasing effects also, relies on the teachers because they are responsible for teaching the children inside and outside of the classrooms because if they don't then they began to wonder about wether or not they should go to school. A parent stuck out to me in this arugment by stating, “They talk about no child left behind. Well, the children are being left behind now because of a controversy between the mayor and school board.” This is so true because we find it so difficult that the school system could be consolidating which will hold the key to change, but what their not understanding is that the change for them may not be a change best fitted for the kids.
Due to the fact of kids having to be way across town when they live on the other side of town just to go to school, also they lack in communicating the impotant things with the parents rather than letting them know what's going on in the school systems. However, I have found out that the No Child Left Behind has had alot to do with many of the schools becoming on the failing list. Also, many drop-outs have occured over the years, and low graduation rates as well. “These drop-outs are not kids just suddenly waking up and saying, I’m going to drop out, said White. “They have experienced a lot of failure along the way and now have gotten to the age where they think they are mature enough to leave school.” This statement was made so that we would understand this man's opinion about what has been going on inside of the school systems and that many kids do drop-out because they have experienced failure from there teachers and even there parents.

Letter from a Birmingham Jail (King Jr.)

What was King's goal to reach across when he wrote the letter from Birmingham? I believe that his goal was to let us know what it was like to experience what he experience when he was in Birmingham. However, he first started off my saying that the, "I have came across your recent statement calling my present activities." This simply meant in my opinion that he what he was doing in his present activities, where affecting what was going to happen in the furtue. In order for us to actually to understand what King was trying to reach out to us he began to go on about how as disscued in class the injustice and justic actions there have been taking place in Birmingham. An injustice was that the boundaries of our hometowns where being destroyed due to the fact of un-cruel treatment of segregation. "Negros have expeienced grossly unjust treament in the courts." This statement made it clear about how they unjustice was being served where King was because he saw it and expereinced it. My opinion about this article was to get a clear vision about what King was actually talking about and I can truly say that he proved his point because not only did he convince us that he was going through so much, but it was also a stopping point where he actually had to sit down and write what was going on through his jounery of making a huge change in the world.

Education for our Youth: Increasing Standards in Memphis

I have chosen to talk about Education: Increasing the Standards in Memphis. This topic is up to part because we have forgotten about the values and the understanding of our children education. However, the school consolidation has been one of he outstanding topics in the Memphis and Shelby County Schools, which has and will sooner or later put a barrier on our kids education, due to the communities that many kids live in, test scores comparssion, and the requirements that the state has put on the school systems in order for the kids to graduate. The change that we have to make is that it is time for teachers, and the administrators to stand up and speak up and say what's right and what's wrong, because sitting back all the time will place a whole on numerous of kids future, but it could be a hold of your own child's future due to the fact of lack responsibility. This is a good thing to due because you don't want your child to be suffering in school, due to the lack of teaching, or the lack of support, and encouragement. Wouldn't you agree? Ans sometimes we seem to forget about what is and what would be right for the future becasue we are to focused on what's happening and going on right now. Memphians it's time to take your stand and to say what do we have to due as parents, supporters, etc., to make ou schools/ school systems more advance so that kids will become more excied to come to school, and or to come home to say to their parents, "I wish I could stay in school all day and night."
